"The
World Is Changing"
(a look
at America and ourselves)
Sitting behind our TV remotes,
changing channels to avoid unpleasantries.
People feeling captive in their homes,
peering through windows into hostile urban seas.
Small victims afraid to tell sworn secrets,
the elderly are burdensome or forgotten.
We must speak for all of those
who are unheard and downtrodden.
Vows made long ago
and forever,
pushed aside for personal gratification.
Rich with possessions, but poor at heart,
human value measured by work and position.
Young boys take to the streets for acceptance,
no love at home, their crossroads at hand.
We are called to be missionaries
in our own foreign land.
The world outside is
changing.
A world longing for a light,
a world living in a shadow.
How will they know which light is right
if we don't tell them what we know.
The world outside is changing,
it's priorities need rearranging,
our courage needs to grow.
Raising a generation
without guidelines,
hungry, but their food does not satisfy.
Saving nature, but not their roots,
losing values from the past, nothing to testify.
Without a vision, people soon fade,
listen to their hearts, you can hear it.
We need to give them food,
food of the Spirit.
The world outside is
changing.
A world longing for a light,
a world living in a shadow.
How will they know which light is right
if we don't tell them what we know.
The world inside needs changing,
our priorities need rearranging,
our courage needs to grow.
How will they know
if we don't tell them so,
that Christ is the light.
The world outside needs changing,
you and I need changing,
we all need to grow.
Christ is our light.
The one true light that is right.
by John Nordberg
Luke 4:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach
the gospel to the
poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to
the captives, and
recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are
bruised.
