CAUTION:  The following poem is politically incorrect.

"Undertow"

We enjoy our swim in the azure sea,
not heeding the undertow with apathy.
Heading out deeper than intended to be,
treading over water that becomes dark and murky.
Pursuing the goal of total personal liberty,
ignoring the one given down by the Almighty.
Not one of solid values fundamentally,
but one of political ideology.
We are told to accept unconditionally,
except the new light is too fragmentated to see.
Hiding behind the mask of golden opportunity,
taking potshots at principles without apology.
Any opposition is met with open hostility,
changing the truths that rule and guide society.
Before drifting beyond moral reality,
our national conscience is in need of inventory.

We enjoy our swim in the azure sea,
not heeding the undertow of apathy.

by John Nordberg

Ap-a-thy:  1: lack of feeling or emotion.
Ap-a-thy:  2: lack of interest or concern.

Un-der-tow:  The current beneath the surface that sets seaward
Un-der-tow:  or along the beach when waves are breaking upon
Un-der-tow:   the shore.

Psalm 33:8-16, 22
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world
revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded,
and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he
thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord
stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all
generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the
people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the Lord
looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he
watches all who live on earth - he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size
of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.

May your unfailing love rest upon us O Lord, even as we put
our hope in you.

Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?
