"Mannequin"

Wearing the latest fashions
in all the trendiest stores.
Elegantly and gracefully posed,
with a figure to die for.
Long legs that go on forever,
beauty shrouded with long flowing hair.
Pouty lips and deep intense eyes
without a blemish on skin so fair.

Mannequin, mannequin;
perfect in every way.
Just a mannequin.

The measure of outer beauty,
people slip an envious look.
Men's eyes are caught following
a cover of a romance book.
Sometimes dressed slinky and enticing,
women stand judging and comparing.
Marketing is directing your steps,
virtue at the mercy of their liking.

Mannequin, mannequin;
perfect in every way.
Just a mannequin.

Some days taking on the world,
other times poised deep in thought.
Everything seems to be silver and gold,
but actually it is not.
No more life of your own it seems,
stress cracks reveal a larger hole.
Everything glows on the outside,
but hollow is the heart and soul.

Mannequin, mannequin;
almost perfect in every way.
Just a mannequin.

Guarded and sometimes unbending,
seeing the world through a fixed gaze.
Once was soft and pliable,
now ridged with trust in a haze.
When did you grow so cold,
adding more armor with each new hurt?
Hiding your pain in a disguise,
regret can be a flavorless dessert.

Mannequin, oh mannequin;
you seemed so perfect in every way.
What happened in your past
to leave you this way;
just a mannequin.

How to fix a hollow and empty soul
that cracked along the seam?
You've been glued and patched before,
but it's never enough to redeem.
You need something/someone to believe in
to regain your old inner self.
I'm knocking, please open the door,
don't put me on the shelf.

Mannequin, oh mannequin;
so perfect on the outside
but hiding a broken heart.
One too many hurts,
emotions broken apart;
leaving you empty...
just like a mannequin.

Just like a mannequin.

by John Nordberg

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Luke 9:11
...but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them
about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

Acts 3:16
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is
Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to
him, as you can all see.

Acts 28:27
For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they
have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.

1 Peter 2:24,25
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for
righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray,
but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
