"I Knew A Man"

I knew a man that was
ordinary in most every way,
blending in with everyone else
as he went to work each day.
He wasn't very athletic,
wasn't awe-inspiring with a ball,
but truly dedicated to fatherhood,
he gave his all in all.

I knew a man that was
a hero in my eyes.
I knew a man that showed
honesty has no disguise.

I know a man that is
respected by his wife faithfully,
and everything that he attempts
shows through with integrity.
Not as young as my memory sees,
age is getting the best of him;
sometimes seeming frail on the outside,
but still the best within.

The man I know now isn't the man he was,
but still a hero in my eyes.
He may be limited in action,
but love has no disguise.

Proverbs 21:21, 23
Proverbs 22:1, 3, 6

A good name is more desirable than riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

He who pursues righteousness and love
finds life, prosperity, and honor.

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge,
but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

He who guards his mouth and tongue,
keeps himself from calamity.

Train a child in the way he should go, and
when he is old he will not turn from it.
