Proverbs: Verses from “The Wise and the Fool”

“The Wise” and “the Fool” are massive categories in Proverbs. In truth, a sermon about the wise and the fool would be about the entire book. The wise is the one who lives rightly and the fool is the one who doesn’t. However, focusing on the verses that specifically deal with the wise and the fool do help make our study of these categories more manageable. All these verses were considered during the sermon from 4/2. Why two lists? Sometimes the authors and editors of Proverbs did not compare the wise or the fool, but just said “The fool does this” or in a different verse “The wise does that”. While there are many comparisons, some verses JUST talk about the fool and some JUST talk about the wise. Enjoy finding those for yourself!

(Understanding the list via example: ” 25:2, 21-22; “.  “25” indicates the chapter in proverbs. The colon “:” indicates the verses that follow. “2” is a verse that should be considered by itself. Generally, verses connected by a dash “-” shows that the verse are connected thematically[verses that are unconnected “6,7,8” are not necessarily connected thematically]. The semicolon “;” shows the end of that chapter, and the next number is the next chapter.)
